Script About Anzac Day

Both Japan and New Zealand have anniversary of war.
On 25 April every year is Anzac Day in New Zealand. Anzac stands Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. They fought in Turkey during World War I. Now Anzac Day is held to remember the soldiers who died or were injured during World War I and World War Ⅱ. Some parades and ceremony are held. But some people say Japanese in New Zealand had better not go out because Japan was enemy in those days. All trading is prohibited before 12:00 in this day. Poppy and Anzac cookie are symbols of Anzac Day. Anzac cookies were first made by members of the Anzac. Today they are one of the most popular cookies in New Zealand. The poppy is a symbol of Anzac Day because when the Anzac's fought in Turkey the fields were covered in red poppy flowers.
On 15 August every year is the anniversary of the end of war in Japan. This is the day as well as Anzac Day to commemorate the dead and wish piece. The only difference is it’s not holiday. 6th and 9th Aug also commemorate the dead who died for atomic bomb.

Christmas In New Zealand

Christianity was introduced to New Zealand 150 years ago by British settlers, when New Zealand was still a colony of Great Britain. So New Zealanders have celebrated Christmas in the same way as the British. On the other hand Christmas was introduced to Japan in 1552 by missionaries. Christmas is holiday as well as other Christian countries in New Zealand. But in Japan, Christmas is just one of annual events. The seasons in New Zealand are opposite to Japan and other northern hemisphere's country. Therefore New Zealanders celebrate Christmas during the warm summer season and do not have a White Christmas. But Christmas decorations used are all the same as for a White Christmas. The traditional Christmas dinner in New Zealand is roast turkey with vegetables and sauces. For dessert it is rich, fruity Christmas pudding with brandy sauce. Mince pies, pastry cases filled with a mixture of chopped dried fruit. Some people even have a traditional Maori hangi . They dig a hole in the ground and heat it with hot stones. Then they put meat and vegetables into this hole, cover the hole and let the food cook inside. The hangi is served in the afternoon or evening; after the delicious meal, people often sit around and sing Christmas carols. Christmas trees in New Zealand are called Pohutokawa. The color of its flowers is gorgeous scarlet during the Christmas season.

Autumn Festival

First I would introduce autumn festival in my hometown. We go temple carrying a portable shrine on our shoulder. There are some events there like Sumo and karaoke. After that we carry a portable shrine again and distribute kind of charm to neighbor. They receive a reward of money. That’s the reason we take part(:

Next I introduce famous autumn festival in Gifu Prefecture.

Hanauma Festival
This is a traditional festival. And it is held in Sakasita town every August. Three horses walk street carrying ornaments with children. As soon as horses arrive Sakasita temple, people scramble for them. It is said good thing will happen if they can get them.

Movies

I rarely go to watch movies to Movie Theater. I tend to watch them on TV or borrow DVD at Tsutaya. The number of movies I saw isn’t so much. But I have some favorite movies to recommend everyone.

First is Midnight Sun. Japanese title is タイヨウのうた(Song of the Sun). This is a one girl story that has disease called Xeroderma pigmentosum(XP). She loves singing and performing on the street at night. But she never lives under the sun because of XP. She kept fighting with disease. Finally she published her own CD. YUI who is famous singer song writer plays the lead. This is touching movies. This movie told me never gives up if you felt down. Dreams will come true to keep trying.

Next movie is Life As A House. The begining of this movie, George is diagnosed with terminal cancer and dismissed suddenly. He has a son, Sam, who absorb in punk music and drugs. Their relationship was terrible. George thought he want to recover the relationship. Then He destroys his house and begins to build new house with his son during summer. Kevin Kline plays as George. Hayden Christensen plays as Sam.This is heartwarming story. I think this movie express nicely complicated relationship between parents and their children who are adolescence.
